Phone rings, a young Georgia answers: “Mum…. Someone wants to know if we have any more of that white wine…..I think it’s called serve me some plonk?”
Phone rings, Riley answers (when only a tiny tacker): “Hello, Barton Mistake Wines, can I help you?”
Riley age 10 picking grapes at vintage: “Mum, how will I get paid?” Julie says it can be by the bucket or by the hour. He says that he can work hard so by the bucket is the go. He makes a tidy sum that day. Next day he is wandering along casually and Julie warns him to pick up the pace or he won’t make a dollar. His reply is “it’s OK Mum I am working by the hour today”! Unionist or maybe accountant in the making!
Riley as a young’un is given a surreptitious sip of Spumante by his Aunt. With a screwed up face he states “I can’t drink this with my meal! It’s a dessert wine!”
